How Trump’s dizzying jerks and jolts on tariffs are ‘freezing’ US business

Donald Trump started a trade conflict with places that are friends with America, such as Canada and Mexico. Mister Trump said he did this to keep America strong. Then, he said, forget it, for a little while. Mister Trump does things such as this sometimes – says he’ll do one thing, then changes his mind. This isn’t the first time, and it probably won’t be the last.

First, he made it more expensive for cars from our neighbor countries to come to America, saying they would have to pay extra money for an entire month. But the very next day, he said, you people don’t have to pay more for now. The only extra money still being charged is for things coming from China. That’s been happening since February, when Trump made it cost 10% more.

Even this week, that went up, and now it’s twice as much – it’s 20%. On any joyous occasion, such as a birthday party or a holiday, can you imagine what Trump is discussing? Mister Trump’s planning to make it even more expensive for items to come from a large amount of other places soon too, even places in Europe. That’s what they’re calling the major one.

Donald Trump, the president, shockingly said no more deals with Canada and Mexico. It’s as if he wants to start a major conflict over who sells what, saying it’s for protecting America. Mister Trump put really high prices on things we get from our neighbor countries, but the very next day, he said, hold on, forget it! and let carmakers keep performing their role without paying extra for an entire month.

Then he said it was also okay for nearly all other things from Canada and Mexico to not have extra prices. But items we buy from China still cost more because he made the extra price double from what it was before. And Trump is planning even larger extra prices soon. Now he’s looking at items from many places, even Europe, and it’s going to affect many things we buy and sell.

It’s not the first time he’s done something such as this, and it probably won’t be the last..

Since he won the election last November, President Trump has been really busy with Canada and Mexico. Mister Trump made threats to make them pay more money if they want to sell items to us in January, again in February, and again in March. Then, in March, for a tiny amount, he did make them pay more, but then he said most items didn’t need to pay after all.

And Mister Trump threatened them one more time in April. It’s unfathomably confusing for people who make cars or juice to know what’s going on because everything keeps changing so fast. It’s utterly tough and difficult to ascertain, Fazili said. You can’t have a great business if the rules keep almost changing every month. Matthew Holmes, an important decision maker at the Canadian business location, said that we shouldn’t be happy today.

Mr. Holmes noted this after Trump decided not to make Canada and Mexico pay more last Thursday. We shouldn’t act like our money and jobs are just for enjoyment. It’s not okay to keep scaring everyone–and making everyone nervous. It hurts our money and jobs. It was an easy conclusion, but true: people who make things, such as tires or orange juice, found it really hard to make plans because they weren’t sure what would happen with the money they had to pay.

And its value was exposed when everyone realized that changing rules all the time makes it really fraught to run a business.

Since he won in November, Trump has been very occupied with Canada and Mexico. First, in January, he said he might charge them extra when they mail things to us. Then he said the same thing in February and March. He really did make them give more money in March for a little bit, but then he stopped that for most things. Now, in April, he’s discussing making them give more money once more!

All of the aforementioned is happening inordinately speedily, and it’s as if everything is moving very fast. It is somewhat similar to those accelerated landscapes in video games. For the individuals or people who make cars or juice and have to deal with selling things in North America, it’s very hard to understand. Fazili doesn’t even know how they keep up with these quick changes.

It’s as if there’s a major release every month, and it’s very difficult to have a business when that keeps happening, he says. After they said only joking again on Thursday, someone key, Matthew Holmes, was saying, we can’t be happy today. Mister Holmes’s pretty important in this group that looks at business matters in Canada. Mister Holmes’s worried because the individuals or people who make toys or food or anything else can’t ascertain what’s going on.

They’ve been writing down everything unfathomably carefully when it happens. It’s starting to make them tired and they wish things would just stay the same.

A lot of people in America are finding it’s hard to pay for things nowadays because prices went up so much. Even though it’s been seven weeks since he started being president again, Mr. Trump still says Joe Biden is the reason for our financial problems. When he was speaking to several key people in Congress, he said Joe Biden left us with very bad money problems and prices that keep getting higher.

Mr. Trump likes to scare companies in other countries.

Mr. Trump tells them he’ll make them pay extra money if they don’t bring their factories to the US. But corporate institutions have a hard time deciding what to do because they don’t know what Mr. Trump will say about money next. People who know a lot about being president say you should stop talking about the president before you and not mention their name.

But Mr. Trump doesn’t care about that. Larry Sabato, who teaches about politics, says Mr. Trump does whatever he wants, and his fans are very agreeable to that, so he’s going to keep on doing it. But it was an easy conclusion but our country isn’t really having a very major money disaster. After everyone got sick and got better, our country showed it was really strong.

The main point is, some time back, prices went up a lot and that was the largest problem. But now the prices are not going up so much anymore.

Donald Trump said to all the people that if we vote for him, things at the shop would cost less. In the days just before we voted, he said buying food would not need as much money if he won. When he was trying to become president again, Trump kept saying he’d make prices fall very quickly once he’s in charge. But when he did win, he admitted that it’s not easy to make prices come down.

A short time after he won, he said to a magazine that when items become expensive, it’s unfathomably fraught to make it cheap again. Trump used to say that when things get a little more costly, it’s just for a short time, not a major issue. But if things really do become more pricey because of what he does, then saying it’s without concerns won’t work as well anymore.

Fighting about whose fault pricey items is can get rough. Fazili said, Once you’re the head, you’re the one everyone looks at to fix financial problems. And, if things we buy do become more expensive, as some sharp and informed financiers and leaders think, because of actions Trump chose to do, people will find it hard to believe it’s actually Biden’s fault that it’s tough to pay for things every day.
