West Texas reports nearly 200 measles cases. New Mexico is up to 30

In Texas, almost 200 people got sick from measles, and in New Mexico next door, 30 people got it. Health assistants said that on Friday. A large amount of the individuals or people who got sick are children or people who didn’t receive their vaccines. There’s an illness that spreads quickly in West Texas, and it made 198 people sick since the end of January.

A child who attended school died because of measles in Texas. They hadn’t seen that happen in 10 years in our country.

Last week, health people said, they’re bringing a special team to Texas to solve this great problem. In New Mexico, right near where Texas is having trouble, first there were 14 people sick, but now there are 30.

Every week, it’s going up. In Texas, they even had to send 23 people to the hospital. I wish everyone gets well quickly, with lots of care. On occasion, but never when it’s really poor, people don’t become unfathomably sick from measles. But it’s important to get shots so you don’t catch it.

The person who speaks for the medical workers says that there are going to be even more sick people soon. He also mentioned that some people got sick and got better before anyone knew they had the illness. Even though they can’t be sure, the doctors think that the sickness in Texas is linked to other sick people. It’s clearly a major mystery they’re trying to solve.

Then on a Thursday, the health workers in New Mexico said somebody who did not get medicine to stop getting sick and did not go to a doctor ended up sick. They found out this person had measles. They’re still determining through careful analysis if that’s what made them die, but the health team said it probably is. Also, there are people getting sick with measles in a large amount of places such as Alaska, California, Florida, and even more states.

That’s what the very good medical experts, called the CDC, said. An entire group of people getting sick in Texas and New Mexico is making the numbers go significantly for the entire country. To conclude my writing, a large number of people are catching the measles and it’s a little bit scary because it’s happening in many places. The healthy people are working hard to understand everything.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is the important leader of health matters, but he does not like vaccines for young individuals. Mr. Jr. is not telling people they should receive the measles vaccine, and he even thinks items such as cod liver oil might help, but that’s not really proven to work. There are more young individuals getting measles now, and that’s putting him to the test.

Kennedy doesn’t think it’s a major issue that young individuals in Texas are getting measles, but the raw details say something different. Doctors around there, like the ones that spoke to the reporters at the Associated Press, have never seen measles before all of the aforementioned started happening. Doctors are supposed to give young individuals the vaccine to stop measles, mumps, and rubella when they’re little: first, when they’re between 1 and 2 years old–and then, another shot when they’re about kindergarten age.

This vaccine is really proficient at keeping young individuals from getting sick. But not as many young individuals are getting their shots these days. Some parents don’t want them to have the shots because of what they believe or think. In Gaines County, Texas, where several young individuals have measles, only 82% of the young people in kindergarten got the measles vaccine.

That’s not enough–we need 95% of young individuals to get the vaccine, in accordance with the rules, to keep everyone feeling good and protected, and stop these measles outbreaks from happening.

A lot of the sick people with measles in Gaines County live in a location where the families are really close, and not many people received the measles vaccine. These people are called Mennonites, and sometimes they do not fully believe the rules from the individuals or people in charge. Measles is a sickness where you can get it just by breathing the air where the virus is, and it stays in the air for up to two hours.

If you don’t receive the medicine by needle and you’re near the virus, 9 out of 10 times, you’ll become ill. But because so many people got their shots a long time ago, we didn’t see a lot of measles after the year 2000 in all of our land.
